TL;DR
Systems Engineer (Nuclear): Developing and maintaining requirements, reliability, safety, and performance processes for deployable nuclear microreactors with an accent on design verification, regulated design codes, and cross-functional product quality. Focus on conducting reliability analyses, identifying failure modes, driving root-cause investigations, and establishing scalable design-review processes across the reactor lifecycle.

Location: Onsite in Torrance, California, in the Los Angeles area; travel to customer and mission-relevant locations may be required. Applicants must be eligible under U.S. government export regulations.

Salary: $140,000–$185,000 annually, plus equity.

hirify.global is a Series B clean-energy and aerospace startup developing mass-producible, inherently safe microreactors for terrestrial, underwater, and space applications.

What you will do

  • Develop and manage reactor requirements based on customer specifications, safety regulations, and design and construction codes.
  • Build processes for validating analysis methodologies and ensuring compliance with ASME and other applicable standards.
  • Establish and manage design-review processes, including feedback documentation, open actions, and unverified assumptions.
  • Conduct reliability analyses and risk assessments throughout product design and development.
  • Identify failure modes, lead root-cause analyses, and develop corrective action plans.
  • Collaborate with design, analysis, manufacturing, quality, and other cross-functional teams to create scalable design processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or related Engineering.
  • 4+ years of experience, preferably in a design or product-development environment.
  • Knowledge of reliability principles, methodologies, and testing techniques.
  • Familiarity with ASME codes and standards and failure-mode analysis tools such as FMEA or FMECA.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends when necessary to support critical milestones.
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret or Top Secret SCI clearance and meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Engineering.
  • Experience with reliability software and statistical analysis tools, including Weibull analysis and Minitab.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as nuclear, automotive, aerospace, or medical devices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
