Director of Engineering (AI)

What you will do

• Lead, grow, and inspire the Agentic Commerce engineering team, including recruiting, career development, performance management, and engineering standards.
• Drive execution across the full software development lifecycle, from discovery and planning through delivery, monitoring, and iteration.
• Embed AI-first practices and tooling to automate processes, accelerate development, and reduce friction in engineering workflows.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Commercial leadership to align roadmap priorities, manage dependencies, and coordinate cross-functional delivery.
• Define best practices for code quality, system design, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement.
• Track the JavaScript ecosystem and emerging technologies to guide technical direction.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in engineering leadership or management.
• Experience leading cross-functional work with Engineering, Product, and Commercial teams.
• Ability to remain hands-on and contribute technically when needed.
• Experience in a start-up or scale-up environment.
• Experience building or managing teams working on agentic systems, LLM-powered products, or AI-driven workflows.
• Strong background in distributed systems and cloud-native architecture.

• Experience with GCP.
• Background in e-commerce, fintech, or another high-growth product domain.
