Director of Solutions Engineering (AI)

Location: London, on-site

Compensation: Estimated on-target earnings of £200,000–£250,000 per year, plus equity and commission

What you will do

• Build, lead, hire, mentor, and develop a high-performing Solutions Engineering team.
• Establish scalable best practices for pre-sales solutioning, proof-of-concepts, technical validation, and solution assets.
• Partner with Sales leadership to develop go-to-market strategies and align technical execution with business goals.
• Guide strategic enterprise prospects and customers through discovery, solution design, demonstrations, prototypes, and ROI validation.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to incorporate customer insights into roadmap priorities.
• Represent Decagon as an executive-level technical leader in customer meetings, workshops, and industry events.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in pre-sales technical roles such as Solutions Architect or Sales Engineer.
• 3+ years of experience managing or leading pre-sales or Solutions Engineering teams.
• Proven success with large enterprise customers and complex buying cycles.
• Strong technical proficiency with enterprise AI deployments, API integrations, and production system architectures.
• Excellent communication, consultative, organizational, and executive presence skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving, high-growth environment with significant ambiguity.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI or Generative AI pre-sales engineering and enterprise deployments.
• Familiarity with enterprise architecture, developer tooling, SDKs, and integration patterns.
• Software or systems engineering background.
• Experience integrating telephony infrastructure or other complex enterprise systems.
• Knowledge of LLM architecture, prompt engineering, evaluation, and AI-powered solution design.
