What you will do
- Lead the design and development of the Primary Sodium Pump and Intermediate Sodium Pump for the Natrium Demonstration Project.
- Develop technical requirements, design specifications, design basis documents, and engineering design packages.
- Oversee vendors, review deliverables, lead design reviews, and support pump testing and qualification programs.
- Perform or coordinate thermal-hydraulic and mechanical analyses, including thermal, seismic, structural, pipe stress, and heat-transfer analyses.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary system interfaces, drawing packages, P&IDs, 3D models, and plant design information.
- Support testing, licensing submittals, schedule adherence, and integration of the primary heat transport system into the plant design.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline and 12+ years of direct experience; an advanced degree may substitute for experience.
- Experience designing centrifugal or axial pumps, preferably reactor coolant pumps.
- Experience applying ASME Section III and quality standards such as ASME NQA-1 to rotating equipment and nuclear design activities.
- Knowledge of pump testing or qualification programs, electric motor operation, and electromechanical concepts.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary design work, resolve competing objectives, and manage simultaneous tasks with minimal direction.
- ANSI/ANS 3.1 qualification requirements and applicable nuclear industry experience must be met.

- Reactor coolant pump design experience.
- Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
