Senior Distributed Systems Engineer (Go/Rust)

Location: Onsite at the office in Santa Clara, California, United States. Travel up to 15% domestically or internationally.

Base salary: $163,430–$213,972 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and ship production backend services in Go and/or Rust.
• Build high-throughput telemetry ingestion pipelines using gNMI, NETCONF, and SNMP for large device fleets.
• Develop RESTful and gRPC APIs, real-time processing engines, and time-series storage systems.
• Build Kafka or Kinesis event-streaming pipelines with at-least-once or exactly-once processing semantics.
• Own reliability through on-call participation, incident response, monitoring, post-mortems, and systemic improvements.
• Deploy containerized services on Kubernetes and maintain Terraform infrastructure across AWS, GCP, and Azure.

Requirements

• 6+ years of backend software engineering experience shipping production services at scale.
• Hands-on production experience with Go and/or Rust.
• Strong distributed systems experience, including event streaming, time-series databases, ingestion pipelines, consistency models, failure modes, backpressure, and idempotency.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, at least one major cloud provider, SQL, relational and time-series data models, and query optimization.
• Experience with structured logging, metrics, distributed tracing, CI/CD, code review, and operational ownership.
• Access to export-controlled technology requires verification of U.S. Person status, a necessary license, or an applicable license exception.

Nice to have

• Experience with network telemetry protocols, YANG data modeling, or network management platforms.
• Experience with graph databases or graph data models for network topology.
• Experience building multi-tenant SaaS backend services with data isolation and per-tenant resource management.
• Open-source infrastructure, observability, or networking contributions, or technical writing on distributed systems.
• Experience in regulated or security-conscious environments such as FedRAMP or NIST.
