TL;DR
Engineer, SteeringSystem E/E and SW (Automotive): Developing electric power steering systems, E/E architecture, and embedded software for electric pickup trucks and rugged SUVs with an accent on system integration, diagnostics, validation, and functional safety. Focus on defining requirements, executing HIL/SIL and vehicle-level testing, supporting calibration and OTA readiness, and resolving technical issues with suppliers and cross-functional teams.

Location: Novi, Michigan, United States; 4–5 days per week in the office. Regular in-person meetings, company events, and occasional travel are required.

Salary: $110,000–$135,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

  • Engineer electric power steering systems, including E/E architecture, embedded software, control strategies, diagnostic trouble codes, signal interfaces, and system behavior.
  • Define and manage system requirements while integrating steering hardware and software with controls and vehicle integration teams.
  • Plan and execute system-level validation using hardware-in-the-loop, software-in-the-loop, and vehicle-level testing.
  • Define diagnostics, logging, event detection, calibration, data analysis, and debugging strategies.
  • Support functional safety activities, firmware and software releases, integration, validation, OTA readiness, and program change management.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, resolve technical issues, and drive improvements in system performance and robustness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or Engineering Technology.
  • 4+ years of steering system development experience focused on E/E systems, embedded software, or controls in an OEM or Tier-1 environment.
  • Strong understanding of steering system architecture, E/E integration, embedded software development, requirements management, DVP&R, diagnostics, and data analysis.
  • Experience with HIL/SIL testing, vehicle calibration, software validation, and system-level development ownership.
  • Ability to collaborate across software, hardware, vehicle integration, vehicle dynamics, validation, manufacturing, quality, and supplier organizations.
  • Proactive, results-driven approach to resolving system issues and improving performance and robustness.
