EH Steering Application Engineer (Embedded Systems)

Location: Mossville, Illinois, United States. Full-time onsite work is required five days a week. Domestic relocation assistance is available, and travel is approximately 10%.

Salary: $112,710–$169,060 per year.

What you will do

• Apply electro-hydraulic steering systems to machine platforms to meet performance, safety, and operability requirements.
• Support controls calibration and tuning for steering response, stability, and operator feel.
• Integrate steering systems with hydraulic components, sensors, actuators, and electronic controllers.
• Participate in requirements definition, DFMEA activities, design reviews, and new product introduction.
• Conduct machine-level testing, data collection, analysis, and SIL/HIL testing in laboratory and field environments.
• Collaborate with controls, hydraulics, software, electrical, mechanical, and supplier teams to troubleshoot issues and resolve production problems.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
• Understanding of closed-loop control systems, tuning concepts, embedded systems, and requirements analysis.
• Working knowledge of hydraulic valves, actuators, and sensors.
• Familiarity with CAN/J1939 or similar vehicle communication protocols and MATLAB/Simulink or comparable controls tools.
• Experience with electro-hydraulic steering or steer-by-wire systems, off-highway or heavy equipment, and cross-functional product development.
• Willingness to support hands-on testing and field validation, with knowledge of functional safety concepts such as ISO 13849 and ISO 25119.
