Senior Design Manager (BESS)

What you will do

• Lead greenfield and brownfield infrastructure and equipment installation projects from conceptualization and feasibility through funding, detailed design, construction, and production.
• Own design engineering efforts for Redwood Energy Storage Systems (BESS), including 30%, 60%, 90%, and IFC design stages.
• Manage permitting and construction documents and coordinate transmittals with permitting, construction, procurement, and external partners.
• Own project design funding and schedules while identifying resource gaps, constraints, and delivery risks.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and internal stakeholders to maintain program alignment and execute projects at high quality.
• Support feasibility studies, value engineering, options analysis, lean construction, and integrated BIM design.

Requirements

• Deep understanding of grid-scale energy storage technologies and balance-of-plant equipment, including inverters, transformers, switchgear, HVAC, and fire suppression.
• Strong knowledge of electrical system design, interconnection requirements, utility-scale project execution, electrical protection, power conversion, medium- and high-voltage systems, communications, and controls.
• Experience with commercial or industrial electrical installations, electricity distribution systems, project management, and/or EPC delivery.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary scopes within A/E or design engineering firms; at least 5 years of relevant experience is desired.
• B.S. in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering, or equivalent demonstrated electrical engineering ability.
• Knowledge of applicable standards, codes, local regulations, and strong communication, prioritization, and decision-making skills.

• PE or RA license.
