Senior Staff AI Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States; hybrid office work arrangement

Salary: $227,500–$300,000 USD base salary per year

What you will do

• Lead the architecture and design of an extensible AI platform and drive consensus on AI-core decisions across teams.
• Design and implement agentic orchestration components that decompose complex goals into actionable subtasks.
• Build a versioned prompt registry supporting model-agnostic routing and A/B testing of system prompts.
• Engineer privacy and safety capabilities, including PII redaction and hallucination verification before AI-generated actions are executed.
• Lead the full data and algorithm lifecycle, including modeling, training, tuning, validation, deployment, and service maintenance.
• Document technical designs, communicate best practices, analyze data, and lead projects through completion.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years shipping production-scale AI or agentic systems.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or C++, with experience in TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
• Expertise with stateful orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph or AutoGen, including state management across multi-step AI missions.
• Experience with structured and unstructured big data, traditional databases, streaming analytics, and vector databases.
• Experience building multi-agent systems, adaptive orchestration, jailbreak detection, PII masking, data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required; a master’s degree or PhD is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Docker, or Kubernetes.
• Automotive industry experience.
• Experience building multi-tenant Platform-as-a-Service models.
