TL;DR
R&D Technician (Aerospace) (fabrication/machining): Building and testing next-generation military equipment through prototyping, machining, assembly, fabrication, and manufacturing-process development with an accent on aerospace-grade quality, safety, and documentation. Focus on leading technician teams, developing complex systems from scratch, and solving advanced manufacturing challenges across fluid, gas, high-voltage, automation, and robotics systems.

Location: El Segundo, California, United States; onsite role. Some critical system testing may require off-site travel. ITAR eligibility is required: U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or an applicant eligible to obtain the required U.S. authorizations.

What you will do

  • Fabricate prototypes and build, operate, and test systems in close collaboration with engineering.
  • Improve designs through rapid iteration and contribute manufacturing and manufacturability input during design reviews.
  • Specify, source, and commission equipment, research best practices, coordinate resources, and report project status.
  • Support critical system testing and validation, including off-site testing when required.
  • Build, lead, mentor, and train a team of technicians.
  • Develop documented processes for machining, fabrication, assembly, inspection, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a high-performance manufacturing or R&D environment.
  • Experience with several of the following: fabrication, machining, welding, pneumatic or hydraulic systems, test processes, and test stand development.
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace-grade production and quality standards, engineering drawings, technical specifications, materials science, precision machining, and quality inspection.
  • Experience developing complex systems and manufacturing processes from scratch.
  • Hands-on experience with fluid, gas, or high-voltage systems, plus automation, robotics, or advanced manufacturing techniques.
  • Leadership, communication, problem-solving, process optimization, lean manufacturing, and familiarity with PLM, ERP, and manufacturing planning systems.
