TL;DR
Senior RF Design Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and validating RF electronics for radar satellite sensors with an accent on low-noise receive chains, high-power transmit chains, RF switching, and timing-critical subsystems. Focus on taking RF hardware from architecture and schematic design through prototyping, characterization, qualification, and on-orbit performance validation.

Location: On-site in Redwood City, California, United States. ITAR eligibility is required: U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required U.S. authorizations.

Salary: $150,000–$170,000 per year, plus competitive pay, equity, and flexibility between salary and equity-based compensation.

Company

hirify.global builds advanced radar satellite systems that create high-resolution, real-time 3D maps of Earth for disaster response, infrastructure resilience, and mission-critical intelligence.

What you will do

  • Develop RF electronic subsystems from architecture and design through manufacturing.
  • Design receive and transmit chains, switching networks, filters, protection circuitry, and bias and control systems.
  • Define RF subsystems and conduct design trade studies involving noise figure, linearity, output power, stability, spurious performance, and power consumption.
  • Lead prototyping, hardware bring-up, debugging, characterization, and RF test campaigns.
  • Collaborate with RF systems, antenna, mixed-signal, mechanical, firmware, and test engineers.
  • Provide technical leadership through design reviews, risk-reduction planning, and mentorship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field and 4–7 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in electronics design, hardware bring-up, and testing.
  • Strong knowledge of electromagnetic theory and RF fundamentals, including S-parameters, transmission lines, stability analysis, and impedance matching.
  • Hands-on experience designing RF hardware such as LNAs, power amplifiers, mixers, switches, filters, couplers, and protection circuitry.
  • Experience with RF modeling, simulation, schematic capture, RF test equipment, EMC requirements, and EMI mitigation.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, self-direction, and accountability in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in electrical engineering, applied physics, or a related field.
  • Experience with PLLs, VCOs, frequency references, low-jitter clock distribution, and timing-critical RF subsystems.
  • Experience with ADS, Microwave Office, HFSS, Altium Designer, Allegro, or OrCAD.
  • Experience taking RF hardware through qualification and environmental testing with manufacturing and test partners.

Culture & Benefits

  • Collaborative work across hardware engineering, software, and aerospace disciplines.
  • Culture emphasizing technical expertise, curiosity, trust, and bold engineering.
  • Competitive compensation with generous equity and salary-equity flexibility.
  • Employee-focused environment with opportunities for growth and technical impact.

Hiring process

  • Three interviews conducted via Zoom.
  • Typical process duration is approximately 3–5 weeks from start to finish.
