Principal RF Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Full-time onsite in Menlo Park, California, United States. Occasional travel may be required for hardware integration and field activities.

Salary: $260,000 base salary per year, plus bonus, stock options, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture and development of RF subsystems for next-generation radar platforms.
• Design and analyze receivers, transmitters, amplifiers, filters, frequency synthesis systems, and antenna interfaces.
• Develop RF budgets, cascade analyses, performance models, and RF PCB designs from schematic capture through production release.
• Perform laboratory characterization, debugging, calibration, validation, and performance optimization using RF test equipment.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, embedded software, manufacturing, and systems engineers to integrate radar hardware.
• Lead design reviews, evaluate technical tradeoffs, support production and field deployments, investigate root causes, and mentor RF engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 12+ years of experience designing RF and microwave electronics.
• Deep understanding of RF system design, microwave circuit theory, and radar fundamentals.
• Experience designing complex RF PCBAs from concept through production, with proficiency in Altium Designer or equivalent software.
• Experience with ADS or CST, Python-based engineering tools and automation, and RF laboratory instrumentation including VNAs, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, and power meters.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. personnel security clearance and required ITAR authorizations.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering focused on RF or microwave engineering.
• Experience with radar, aerospace, communications, or defense electronics.
• Experience with phased arrays, antenna design, beamforming, RF calibration, metrology, or EMI/EMC mitigation.
• Familiarity with Arena PLM and experience leading technical teams or mentoring engineers.
