Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Aerospace): Developing manufacturing processes, tooling, procedures, and facilities for integration, testing, and launch of the Neutron reusable launch vehicle with an accent on flight hardware, ground support equipment, and vehicle processing. Focus on designing efficient build and test operations, executing system-level checkouts, and coordinating multidisciplinary work across mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems.

Location: Wallops Island, Virginia, United States

Base pay range: $115,000–$172,100 USD per year, plus potential stock and cash incentives.

What you will do

  • Develop concepts of operations, tooling, equipment, and processes for handling Neutron components and integrated stages.
  • Develop and execute procedures for integrating flight hardware and ground support equipment.
  • Support first- and second-stage vehicle integration, propellant systems, avionics, and autonomous flight termination systems.
  • Develop inspection, repair, assembly, maintenance, system test, and vehicle checkout procedures.
  • Design tools, hardware, processing facilities, build flows, and test operations for efficient vehicle processing.
  • Maintain configuration and planning documentation, address non-conformances, and coordinate priorities with managers, engineers, and technicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience building and testing hardware associated with launch vehicles and their operating environments.
  • Proficiency authoring comprehensive work instructions and procedures for assembly, test, and launch.
  • Ability to interface with multidisciplinary mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems.
  • For work in U.S. offices, eligibility to access ITAR-regulated technology is required; candidates must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, qualifying refugee or asylee, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Master of Science degree in aerospace, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with launch vehicle hardware and subsystems, including avionics, high-pressure gas, structural, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Experience building and testing complex assemblies at system and subsystem level.
  • Experience applying project management principles.
