Product Safety and Compliance Engineer

What you will do

• Evaluate product designs and systems against SEMI, IEC, UL, CE, ISO, NFPA, RoHS, REACH, FCC, OSHA, and other applicable standards.
• Identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and recommend design changes to mitigate safety risks.
• Lead product safety certifications, coordinate with testing laboratories and certification bodies, and maintain compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
• Develop test protocols, oversee validation activities, interpret results, and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare hazard analyses, FMEA, risk mitigation plans, regulatory submissions, audit documentation, and compliance reports.
• Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship while collaborating with engineering, product management, manufacturing, quality, and legal teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, safety, or related engineering.
• 5–8 years of experience in product safety engineering or compliance, preferably in semiconductor capital equipment or another regulated industry.
• Experience with global safety standards and product safety certifications, including SEMI, NFPA, IEC, UL, CE, ISO, and environmental compliance requirements.
• Experience conducting risk assessments, hazard analysis, root cause analysis, and safety-related corrective actions.
• Experience with radiation-emitting equipment, SISTEMA evaluations, and PLC-based functional safety systems.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally for audits, certifications, and regulatory meetings.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or specialized product safety or compliance certification.
• Certified Safety Professional, Certified Product Safety Engineer, or Certified Compliance Professional certification.
