Systems Safety Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Hybrid in Mountain View, California, with onsite work required three days per week and flexibility for the remaining days.

Salary: $101,000–$127,000 per year

What you will do

• Assess risks for aircraft systems using qualitative and quantitative safety assessment methods.
• Perform FHA, FTA, CCA/CMA, and FMEA assessments in accordance with SAE ARP4761A.
• Interpret aircraft and systems safety regulations and tailor safety assessment processes for airworthiness approval.
• Define safety targets using airworthiness regulations and guidance such as 14 CFR 2X.1309.
• Develop, verify, and communicate safety mitigation strategies, recommendations, and operational limitations.
• Work with Integrated Product Teams, Quality, Certification, airworthiness authorities, and Designated Engineering Representatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline with at least two years of related experience, an advanced degree without experience, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience applying design safety engineering principles to safety-critical systems.
• Experience with ARP4754A, DO-178C, DO-254, DO-160, ARP4761, MIL-STD-882, or similar standards.
• Experience collaborating with technical teams and strong verbal and written communication skills.
