Salary: $153,862–$205,149 per year. The range is specific to Washington State.

What you will do

  • Lead the Core Thermal Hydraulics Methods and Analysis team of analysts and code developers.
  • Set strategy, goals, staffing plans, resources, budgets, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Approve thermal-hydraulic methods and analyses covering core flow, heat transfer, and reactor component thermal loads.
  • Develop, verify, and validate methodologies using CFD, subchannel solvers, test planning, and execution.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary engineering teams on nuclear component design and quality requirements.
  • Maintain analysis documentation, communicate project status, mentor engineers, and support technical issue resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in mechanical engineering, nuclear engineering, or a relevant technical engineering field.
  • At least 10 years of thermal-hydraulic analysis experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 8+ years with a master’s or doctoral degree.
  • At least 3 years coordinating technical teams and meeting project goals.
  • Proficiency in computational fluid dynamics, thermal-hydraulics methods, and commercial CFD tools, especially STAR-CCM+.
  • Strong knowledge of thermal-hydraulic principles and heat transfer, with experience using CFD or other analysis tools.
  • Experience with stringent quality-assurance requirements such as ASME NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000.

Nice to have

  • Experience managing personnel, resource loading, work planning, and career development.
  • Knowledge of thermal-hydraulic phenomena in sodium fast reactors.
  • Experience interfacing with design and test engineering disciplines.
