Location: Gaithersburg, Maryland, United States; 4 days in office. Work hours are 8:00am ET to 5:00pm ET, Monday through Friday. Travel expectation is 10%.
Salary: $160,000β$190,000 per year.

What you will do
- Lead the mechanical design, analysis, and evaluation of steam generators, pressure vessels, and other advanced reactor components.
- Direct specialized engineers across multidisciplinary projects supporting design, manufacturing, construction, and licensing strategies.
- Drive design cycle sprints, technical decision-making, design reviews, documentation, and configuration control.
- Manage engineering resources, staff development, technical methods, tools, and organizational priorities.
- Resolve technical differences and coordinate engineering work with partners and suppliers to deliver high-quality products on schedule and within budget.
- Support the development of next-generation nuclear power plants using design-for-manufacturing principles.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
- Typically 10 years of engineering experience; graduate degrees may count as more than two years of experience.
- Experience designing and developing mechanical or fluid systems, assemblies, or components, or owning hardware manufacturing and testing.
- Experience using CAD and PLM software such as UG/NX, SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer, Teamcenter, Windchill, or similar tools.
- Must work from the Gaithersburg, Maryland office four days per week.
- Required working hours are 8:00am ET to 5:00pm ET, Monday through Friday.
Nice to have
- Eight or more years of mechanical engineering experience, including at least four years in pressure vessel or steam generator design.
- Experience taking products from concept through manufacturing, prototyping, testing, and production.
- Tube bundle design experience, including thermal-hydraulic, structural, and high-temperature/high-pressure material analysis.
- Experience applying the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
- Professional Engineer license or experience working under a licensed PE, plus familiarity with welding, machining, tube bundle assembly, design for manufacturability, and failure analysis.
