Strategic Project Lead, Hardware

Location: Toronto, hybrid

Salary: CA$150K–CA$200K per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Own hardware and manufacturing data acquisition programs from customer scoping through pilot, production dataset delivery, and final acceptance.
• Translate customer goals into data specifications, expert profiles, collection workflows, review rubrics, and acceptance criteria.
• Recruit, evaluate, and manage hardware engineers, technicians, quality engineers, suppliers, and other technical contributors.
• Design quality systems and review loops that identify incorrect reasoning, missing context, process errors, and domain-inaccurate outputs.
• Use throughput, defect, yield, review, and quality metrics to improve workflows and identify program risks.
• Coordinate operations, recruiting, engineering, product, legal, finance, vendors, facilities, and customer stakeholders.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience leading or supporting hardware programs, manufacturing operations, or field deployments.
• Practical knowledge of hardware development and manufacturing, including design reviews, BOMs, tolerance stack-ups, EVT/DVT/PVT, supplier dependencies, and yield issues.
• Experience owning complex cross-functional programs involving customers, vendors, technical contributors, and strict deadlines.
• Comfort with production metrics, defect analysis, quality systems, operational dashboards, and data-driven decision-making.
• Experience working in factory and field environments with hardware teams, suppliers, quality teams, or field operations.
• Fluency in spreadsheets and modern AI tools for analyzing production data, including defect rates, yield, throughput, and capacity.

Nice to have

• Experience in robotics, industrial automation, electronics, automotive, aerospace, or hardware startups.
• Familiarity with BOM systems, ERP/MRP, PLM, Jira, or Linear.
• Basic familiarity with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Onshape, or Fusion 360 and with electrical schematics.
• Knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA, 8D, statistical process control, data annotation, evaluation datasets, or expert-in-the-loop workflows.
