TL;DR
Mechanical Test Engineer (Aerospace): Developing and owning qualification, acceptance, and production test systems for aerospace components with an accent on tooling, test methodology, and prototype-to-production processes. Focus on designing test stands, building and testing pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and structural assemblies, and solving root-cause issues during qualification campaigns.

Location: El Segundo, California, United States. Travel to vendors and other company sites is required as needed; flexible hours and occasional weekend support may be needed. Applicants must be U.S. persons under ITAR requirements.

Annual salary: $100,000–$130,000 USD

hirify.global develops and manufactures critical avionics, hydraulic, and electrical components and subsystems for aerospace, military, and infrastructure applications.

What you will do

  • Develop test methodologies aligned with industry standards to qualify aerospace hardware for flight.
  • Develop, qualify, and refine test processes that move products from prototype to high-volume production.
  • Own test stands, including the design of new stands and procedures for existing infrastructure.
  • Design tooling and custom test solutions for high-quality hardware production.
  • Plan and execute capital equipment, machine, and facility layout upgrades.
  • Partner with engineering and production teams on prototypes, new designs, qualification campaigns, and root-cause analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in aerospace, manufacturing, materials, or mechanical engineering, or engineering physics.
  • At least 1 year of engineering experience in manufacturing, design, testing, or development; internships and project team experience are applicable.
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and solid mechanics.
  • Must qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR, including U.S. citizenship, permanent residence, or protected-person status.
  • Ability to travel to vendors and other company sites, work flexible hours, and provide occasional weekend support.

Nice to have

  • Professional aerospace or mechanical engineering experience and knowledge of GD&T.
  • Experience building and testing fluid, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or structural systems.
  • Experience with Python, MATLAB, Siemens NX, or similar CAD tools.
  • Experience with test instrumentation and control components such as pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, relays, and solenoid valves.
  • Project management skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts across multidisciplinary teams.
