Proposal Lead (Aerospace)

Location: Hybrid in Washington, DC or the San Francisco Bay Area, United States. Relocation support may be available.

Salary: $80,000–$190,000 per year plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead proposal responses end-to-end as primary author, project manager, and final reviewer.
• Craft proposals, white papers, quad charts, and concept briefs for Government customers.
• Coordinate with engineering and flight operations teams to translate technical content into clear proposal narratives.
• Run color team reviews, manage submission schedules, and deliver compliant packages on time.
• Build proposal infrastructure from scratch, including content libraries, reusable prose, writing schedules, and documentation standards.
• Establish and refine the company’s narrative for Government customers.

Requirements

• US citizenship and eligibility for TS/SCI are required.
• Experience personally leading proposal submissions across multiple government contracting efforts from RFP release through delivery.
• Strong technical writing skills and the ability to translate complex engineering into specific, clear narratives.
• Working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and proposal compliance requirements.
• Experience developing compliance matrices, managing submission schedules, and owning document configuration.
• Technical literacy in aerospace, autonomy, aviation, or adjacent engineering domains.

Nice to have

• Three to eight years of experience in contracting or proposals.
• Experience with OTA, SBIR, fixed-price, or other non-standard contracting vehicles.
• Experience writing proposals where the contracting structure was part of the problem to solve.
• Experience working under unusual time pressure or building proposal infrastructure from scratch.
• Active TS/SCI clearance.
