What you will do
- Review engineering portfolios, CAD, PCB designs, hardware photos, test results, and other technical artifacts to identify candidates for advancement.
- Assess what candidates designed, built, tested, and owned, distinguishing hands-on engineering depth from polished presentation.
- Match demonstrated technical strengths to mechanical, electrical, avionics, propulsion, manufacturing, robotics, and other engineering roles.
- Build independent technical screening capability and reduce unnecessary engineering-team involvement in initial candidate reviews.
- Develop knowledge of the engineering talent market and identify strong candidates who may be missed by conventional resume screening.
- Apply consistent, evidence-based standards and constructively challenge hiring-manager assessments when technical or market evidence supports a different conclusion.
Requirements

- At least one year of professional engineering or hands-on technical experience in a hardware-related field.
- Strong technical depth in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or both, with exceptional judgment when evaluating engineering work.
- Independent judgment, strong assessment of people, and the ability to understand candidate motivations, ownership, working style, and role fit.
- Hands-on experience with an applicant tracking system and recruiting workflows.
- Working knowledge of U.S. employment compliance, especially California labor and employment requirements, plus strong communication skills.
Nice to have
- Experience in space, aerospace, defense, robotics, advanced manufacturing, automotive, or another hard-tech industry.
- Experience in an early-stage startup from pre-seed through Series B.
- Professional recruiting experience involving sourcing, screening, and candidate management.
Culture & Benefits
