Senior High-Speed Printed Circuit Board Layout Engineer (Altium)

Location: Redwood City, California, United States; on-site

Salary: $125,000–$160,000 per year, with flexibility between salary and equity-based compensation.

What you will do

• Own high-speed PCB layout in Altium from component placement through manufacturing release.
• Define stack-ups, impedance targets, length-matching constraints, reference planes, and return-path strategies for high-speed interfaces.
• Translate schematics and performance requirements into mixed-signal and digital layouts that meet signal integrity and power integrity requirements.
• Collaborate with electrical, firmware, mechanical, and test engineers on constraints, design reviews, and first-pass success.
• Drive DFM and DFT activities with fabrication and assembly partners, including documentation and release artifacts.
• Support lab bring-up, hardware debugging, qualification, and environmental testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, plus 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with PCB layout, fabrication, and manufacturing release for high-speed digital and mixed-signal electronics.
• Experience with constraint-driven routing, impedance control, length matching, PCB stack-ups, and dense high-performance boards.
• Strong understanding of layout-driven signal integrity and power integrity, including return paths, reference planes, via transitions, and noise coupling.
• Experience with Altium Designer and clean manufacturing outputs; familiarity with Allegro or OrCAD is useful.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorization under ITAR regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience with SI/PI analysis tools such as Ansys SIwave, Keysight Power Analyzer, HyperLynx, or Sigrity.
• Experience supporting SI/PI debugging on hardware and taking high-performance electronics from prototype through qualification.
• Familiarity with fabrication and assembly partner collaboration and first-spin optimization.
