TL;DR
PCB Design Engineer (Altium): Owning PCB layout and manufacturing release for unmanned systems, from released schematics through fabrication and assembly documentation, with an accent on RF, high-speed digital, flex and rigid-flex circuit design. Focus on controlled-impedance routing, IPC-compliant documentation, library and design-standard ownership, and resolving DFM/DFA issues with fabrication and assembly vendors.

Location: Onsite at the Torrance headquarters, Torrance, California, United States. Must be eligible to work with export-controlled technical data as a U.S. person.

Salary: $115,500–$162,000 USD per year, plus potential equity grants.

Company

hirify.global is a defense technology company designing and manufacturing high-performance unmanned systems for modern battlefield applications.

What you will do

  • Own PCB layout from released schematic through fabrication release, including board outlines, layer stackups, component placement, routing, and design rule closure.
  • Manage the Altium library, including footprints, schematic symbols, land patterns, 3D bodies, design rules, templates, output jobs, naming conventions, and revision control.
  • Implement high-speed digital, RF, precision analog, and power sections using controlled impedance, differential-pair routing, length matching, and reliable return paths.
  • Design flexible and rigid-flex circuits with bend areas, stiffeners, coverlay, and ZIF terminations.
  • Prepare complete IPC Class 2 and Class 3 fabrication and assembly documentation, including Gerber X2 or ODB++, drill files, netlists, paste data, assembly data, and BOM outputs.
  • Work with fabrication and assembly vendors on stackups, impedance confirmation, DFM/DFA feedback, manufacturing issues, and review of other layouts.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of dedicated PCB layout and design experience on production hardware.
  • Expert proficiency with Altium Designer, including workspace and library management.
  • Experience owning corporate CAD libraries and enforcing footprint, symbol, naming, and revision standards.
  • Experience with IPC-2221, IPC-2222, IPC-6012 Class 2 and Class 3, IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, IPC-7351, IPC-2223, and IPC-6013 standards.
  • Expertise in RF and high-speed digital layout, transmission lines, controlled impedance, differential pairs, length and skew matching, return paths, via strategies, and layer-stackup definition.
  • Degree in electronics or electrical engineering, or equivalent hands-on layout experience; onsite availability in Torrance and U.S.-person eligibility for export-controlled technical data are required.

Nice to have

  • Altium 365 or Concord Pro administration, managed components, and ECAD revision control.
  • IPC CID or CID+ certification.
  • ECAD-to-MCAD co-design with SOLIDWORKS or Creo.
  • Signal and power integrity analysis using HyperLynx, Ansys SIwave, or field-solver tools.
  • HDI, sequential lamination, microvias, via-in-pad, back-drilling, high-layer-count, UAV, avionics, defense, medical, or other high-reliability design experience.

Culture & Benefits

  • Fast-paced, hands-on environment focused on moving hardware from design to deployment.
  • Opportunity to work on unmanned systems produced at scale and tested in operational environments.
  • Base salary range of $115,500–$162,000 USD annually.
  • Highly competitive equity grants may form part of total compensation.
