Electrical Architect

Location: Torrance, California, United States. ITAR eligibility required: U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required U.S. government authorizations.

Salary: $122,000–$250,000 per year, plus equity. Detailed levels range from $122,400–$255,000 per year.

What you will do

• Own the electrical architecture and system-level design of high-speed digital communication systems, including RF, mixed-signal designs, multilayer PCBs, and subsystems.
• Define architectures for multi-gigabit networking and complex digital power trees, and lead system-level trade studies.
• Set technical direction and review schematics, PCB layouts, and hardware bring-up for FPGA-, microcontroller-, and peripheral-based systems.
• Collaborate with RF, antenna, FPGA, firmware, hardware, software, and production engineers to optimize system performance and manufacturability.
• Guide prototype testing and laboratory or field performance assessment, including system-level troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
• Support the full product lifecycle from concept and architecture through validation, manufacturing, and production ramp.

Requirements

• 5–7+ years of professional electrical design experience, including work at the system or architecture level.
• Proficiency in high-density and high-speed design, including FPGAs, high-speed data converters, SerDes, 10/100 GigE, networking, and JESD204C.
• Experience with schematic capture, PCB layout, EMI/EMC troubleshooting, PCB materials, and board stack-up definition.
• Experience owning architecture-level decisions across the full product lifecycle from concept through production.
• Must satisfy U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements.
• Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when needed.

Nice to have

• Experience designing high-speed mixed-signal electronics and complex multilayer PCBs for FPGA- or processor-based systems.
• Expertise in multi-gigabit SerDes, DDR, JESD204B/C, and 10/100G Ethernet.
• Deep knowledge of signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC mitigation, PCB stack-ups, and high-performance board layout.
• Experience with advanced laboratory instrumentation, complex hardware debugging, and cross-board root-cause analysis.
• Experience leading technical efforts and mentoring junior engineers.
