Salary: $156,500–$234,800 USD per year base salary, plus equity and benefits

hirify.global is a fusion-energy startup developing a pulser-driven inertial fusion system designed to deliver more fusion energy output than stored energy input and enable affordable clean power.

What you will do

  • Design steel structures for the fusion demonstration system and perform detailed structural analysis and calculations.
  • Optimize critical steel hardware for structural integrity, cost, weight, manufacturability, modularity, and durability.
  • Review existing designs and recommend improvements to load-bearing capacity, efficiency, and cost.
  • Lead design reviews and provide feedback to improve system performance and reliability.
  • Coordinate system-level integration with electrical, manufacturing, and construction teams.
  • Develop design documentation and specifications, ensure compliance with industry standards and codes, and manage risk mitigation activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer and advanced knowledge of designing and building large structures.
  • Advanced CAD skills, such as Creo, and experience applying Finite Element Analysis.
  • Experience developing and launching successful mechanical designs, including hands-on design, rapid iteration, and laboratory problem solving.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacturability.
  • Leadership, mentoring, problem-solving, attention to detail, and written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
