Текст:
TL;DR
Director - Mechanical Engineering (Fusion Energy): Leading the mechanical design and development of primary and secondary components for integrated stellarator fusion systems with an accent on structural and thermomechanical design, manufacturability, and system integration. Focus on defining requirements, resolving complex non-axisymmetric geometry and fabrication challenges, driving analysis campaigns, and building multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Location: Kearny, New Jersey, United States; Workplace: On-site
Salary: $135,000–$235,000 per year
Company
is developing commercial fusion energy systems using computer-controlled arrays of planar coils and stellarator physics.
What you will do
- Own the technical baseline for primary and secondary mechanical fusion systems from requirements and design through analysis, verification, manufacturing, commissioning, and operation.
- Lead structural, thermomechanical, thermal, electromagnetic, nuclear, vacuum, and cryogenic system-level design trades.
- Define and maintain requirements, interface controls, configuration baselines, assembly sequences, and integration plans.
- Drive feasibility analysis for normal operation, off-normal events, and transients, including technical risk mitigation.
- Partner with manufacturing and fabrication engineering to address tight tolerances, inspection, assembly, and stellarator-specific geometry challenges.
- Build and lead an integrated multidisciplinary engineering team, defining work packages, priorities, and technical standards.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, nuclear engineering, or a closely related field involving large-scale, high-performance hardware systems.
- Deep expertise in at least two areas including structural analysis, thermal-hydraulic analysis, vacuum systems, cryogenic engineering, nuclear engineering, high-heat-flux components, or manufacturing engineering.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary hardware development from concept through fabrication and test.
- Strong knowledge of materials behavior and manufacturing processes for demanding mechanical systems.
- Proficiency with CAD, FEA, and PLM systems; NX and ANSYS are preferred tools.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, or a related field.
Nice to have
- Experience with first-of-a-kind hardware development in a startup environment.
- Experience building and leading high-performing technical teams.
Culture & Benefits
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits.
- Employee equity stock options.
- 20 days of paid time off.
- Work with a creative, multidisciplinary team solving complex fusion-energy engineering problems.
- Equal opportunity workplace committed to diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
