Design Release Engineer, Secondary Controller and SW Release (Automotive)

Location: Novi, Michigan, United States; 4–5 days per week in the office with regular in-person meetings and occasional business travel.

Salary: $110,000–$135,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Act as the main contact between hardware design release engineers, function owners, and suppliers.
• Coordinate software release activities with calibration teams across multiple controllers.
• Lead troubleshooting of hardware and software interface issues.
• Ensure timely hardware support for software milestones.
• Identify project risks, escalate them to leadership, and drive corrective action.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
• Experience coordinating software releases across multiple controllers and suppliers.
• 4+ years of experience managing complex multidisciplinary engineering projects from concept to production.
• Experience with common project and program management tools.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with purchasing, manufacturing, and other teams.
• Strong accountability, communication, problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with design release of powertrain components and systems.
• Experience with internal combustion engine controls and calibration.
