TL;DR

Senior Controls Engineer (Automotive): Leading the development, execution, and continuous improvement of manufacturing controls and automation systems for vehicle production with an accent on robotics, PLCs, and industrial networks. Location: Onsite in Warren, Michigan. Regular travel (25-50%) is required.

What you will do

• Lead new program execution, including SOR preparation, controls and robotics design, and equipment buyoff.
• Oversee the design, integration, and installation of controls systems to ensure successful launches and performance.
• Implement and optimize technologies in PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks, and vision systems.
• Provide technical support and root-cause analysis for existing manufacturing programs.
• Mentor and provide technical direction to junior controls engineers.
• Manage project deliverables and provide progress reporting to senior leadership.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience across multiple Manufacturing Engineering (ME) and plant assignments.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
• Proficiency with Rockwell PLCs, Fanuc robot programming, and CNC (Siemens Sinumerik).
• Knowledge of plant floor systems, including Production Monitoring, Andon Systems, and Material Call.
• Proven project management skills, including planning, execution, and risk management.
• Must be based in or be able to relocate to Warren, Michigan for full-time onsite work.

Nice to have

• Strong understanding of high-volume manufacturing quality management systems.
• Experience with plant-floor information systems, including data collection and analytics tools.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise industrial controls architectures or vision system programming.
