What you will do

  • Design laboratory piping systems for specialty gases, compressed air, vacuum, RODI water, and acid-resistant waste.
  • Prepare Revit design packages and own 3D coordination of sloped waste lines, gas manifolds, and overhead service carriers.
  • Specify materials and components for high-purity gases, wet-lab waste, and other specialized media.
  • Develop P&IDs and flow schematics covering system logic, pressure regulation, and emergency shut-off protocols.
  • Coordinate piping routes with structural, HVAC, electrical, and architectural systems.
  • Support construction and commissioning through submittal reviews and technical field inspections.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Architecture.
  • 8+ years of specialized piping design experience in R&D, healthcare, or semiconductor facilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, including parametric pipe types and complex 3D assemblies.
  • Deep knowledge of laboratory-grade plumbing, gas cabinet integration, and high-purity water generation.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 45, NFPA 99, and ASME B31.3 requirements.
  • Ability to work across detailed piping design and large-scale industrial facility coordination.

Nice to have

  • Professional Engineer or AIA license.
  • Experience with Dynamo or Python for BIM automation and pressure-drop calculations.
  • Background in nuclear or pharmaceutical facilities.
  • Experience with seismic bracing in high-seismic zones.
  • Strong communication skills for translating P&IDs into architectural layouts.
