Senior Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer

Location: Hybrid role based in Newton, Massachusetts, USA

Salary: $114,000–$140,000 USD per year, plus performance-based bonuses

What you will do

• Design domestic water, hot water, sanitary sewer, stormwater, medical and specialty gas, pure water, and natural gas systems.
• Design fire protection systems, including standpipes, fire pumps, hydraulic calculations, piping layouts, and specialty systems.
• Perform engineering calculations, equipment sizing and selection, system layouts, and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Produce drawings and BIM models in Revit while interpreting construction documents, specifications, floor plans, and equipment details.
• Write and edit specifications, reports, narratives, and surveys, and attend external meetings to gather design information.
• Conduct site visits, survey existing systems, review equipment submittals, issue reports, and respond to contractor questions.

Requirements

• 8–10 years of experience in plumbing and fire protection design.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related science or technology field.
• Professional Engineer, Engineer in Training, and/or CPD licensure or certification, or the ability to obtain it.
• Ability to design and coordinate in Revit and perform engineering calculations.
• Detailed knowledge of building codes and industry standards.
• Strong oral and written communication, teamwork, prioritization, and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
