Control Room Operator (Renewable Energy)

Location: Dayton, Ohio, United States; permanently located at the Dayton Remote Operating Control Center

What you will do

• Monitor and control a growing portfolio of utility-scale wind, solar, BESS, and solar-plus-battery assets through SCADA.
• Identify faults, alarms, errors, and underperformance; reset or escalate issues and dispatch field operations personnel.
• Adjust real power generation, voltage, and power factor in coordination with balancing authorities, transmission operators, and operations management.
• Prepare operational reports, manage outage schedules and forecasting, and coordinate outage support and energy isolation.
• Create corrective maintenance tickets, maintain shift logbooks, and record fault information and operational actions.
• Support operating procedure development, regulatory compliance, asset onboarding, safety monitoring, and emergency communications.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of control center operations experience, preferably with utility-scale renewable energy assets.
• Experience with data acquisition, SCADA, electrical systems, plant processes, and solar and wind generation asset maintenance.
• Familiarity with electrical substation safety protocols, LOTO, NERC standards, and operational requirements including VAR, COM, EOP, PER, PRC, and TOP.
• Ability to work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule and handle high-pressure situations with multiple priorities.
• Ability to follow operating procedures strictly, make independent decisions, communicate clearly, and work with limited supervision.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and documentation control systems such as SharePoint, Docushare, or SAP; experience creating and maintaining SOPs.
