Robotics Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles)

What you will do

• Evaluate robotics, automation, sensing, and manipulation technologies from vendors, startups, and research institutions.
• Conduct technical due diligence, gap analysis, and build-versus-buy assessments.
• Define robotic automation architecture, system requirements, interface specifications, benchmarks, and validation criteria.
• Integrate robotic systems with autonomous vehicle platforms and define mechanical, electrical, software, and safety interfaces.
• Design and prototype robotic manipulation solutions, end-effectors, and automation mechanisms for trailer coupling operations.
• Develop perception, localization, motion-planning, and control algorithms while supporting deployment, testing, and field validation.

Requirements

• PhD in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a closely related discipline with a strong robotics focus.
• 8+ years of robotics industry experience, preferably including real-world deployment from concept through production.
• Experience evaluating, selecting, and integrating third-party robotics technologies and industrial platforms such as ABB, Fanuc, KUKA, Yaskawa, Universal Robots, or Franka.
• Strong experience in robotic manipulation, industrial robotics, motion planning, robot controls, computer vision, pose estimation, sensor fusion, perception, industrial automation, system integration, or safety-critical robotic systems.
• Hands-on experience with C++, Python, ROS or ROS2, MoveIt or equivalent robotics frameworks, robot kinematics, and controls.
• Ability to personally develop prototypes, validate technical approaches, and troubleshoot field issues.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-driven robotics, including end-to-end robotic learning, Vision-Language-Action or Vision-Language Models, learning-based manipulation, imitation learning, reinforcement learning, or robotics foundation models.
