Autonomous Systems Engineer (Robotics)

Location: 100% remote within the United States

What you will do

• Develop reliable, real-time robotics software in C++ and Python.
• Design sensor data pipelines and integrate cameras, LiDAR, IMUs, and proprioceptive sensors.
• Implement perception, localization, mapping, SLAM, sensor fusion, motion planning, control, and trajectory-generation algorithms.
• Build behavioral systems using state machines, behavior trees, or task planners, and integrate ROS/ROS 2 with custom hardware and embedded systems.
• Implement safety-critical patterns, build simulation environments with Gazebo or Isaac Sim, and conduct field tests with post-test analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering partners, maintain technical documentation, mentor engineers, and evaluate emerging robotics technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of robotics software engineering experience; the posting specifies 6+ years of overall experience.
• Strong C++ and Python programming skills with experience in real-time and concurrent systems.
• Production experience with ROS or ROS 2 and at least one of perception, localization, motion planning, or control.
• Experience with sensor fusion, Kalman or particle filters, simulation environments, debugging, field tests, and hardware integration.
• Excellent communication and technical documentation skills.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Robotics or a related field.
• Experience with autonomous vehicles, drones, industrial automation, or safety-critical software standards such as ISO 26262 and IEC 61508.
• Familiarity with ML-based perception pipelines or open-source robotics contributions.
