Flight Software Manager (Embedded)

Salary: $198,000–$277,500 USD per year, plus equity grants.

What you will do

• Lead and grow the Flight Software engineering team through hiring, mentorship, and performance management.
• Own the architecture and delivery of the airside flight-software stack across multiple vehicle platforms.
• Drive predictable and safe software releases for mission-critical systems while maintaining long-term codebase health.
• Establish engineering quality practices covering code review, testing, and CI/CD.
• Own unit and integration testing strategy and partner with Test teams on SITL, HITL, and flight-test execution.
• Define and maintain software interfaces used by autonomy, ground-control, and adjacent teams.

Requirements

• Experience leading a software team as a hands-on manager with responsibility for people management and technical direction.
• Strong background in embedded, real-time, safety-critical, or mission-critical software.
• Hands-on experience with flight-control, avionics, or closely related real-time control systems.
• Familiarity with PX4, Betaflight, ArduPilot, or comparable autopilot and flight-control platforms.
• Track record of shipping reliable software for hardware-coupled, schedule-constrained programs.
• Strong judgment regarding test rigor, technical debt, quality, senior-leadership communication, and execution blockers.

Nice to have

• Experience with contested-environment datalink or RF communications.
• Experience defining platform interfaces for autonomy and ground-control systems.
• Experience with multi-vehicle or swarm systems.
• Experience bringing new vehicle platforms or product lines from prototype to production.
