Chip Firmware Validation Engineer (AI)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States; flexible hybrid workplace model

Salary: $185,000–$245,000 USD per year in base compensation, plus equity and other rewards.

What you will do

• Develop and validate the device software and firmware stack for photonic compute and interconnect products.
• Collaborate with photonics, analog, digital, systems, and network experts to define control architecture.
• Drive firmware and software validation testing for photonic products.
• Debug embedded systems using GDB, JTAG, and logic analyzers.
• Define product architecture, validation test plans, requirements, and usability criteria.
• Conduct reliability testing, data analysis, reporting, and software stack optimization.

Requirements

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field and 5+ years of experience in ASIC firmware validation.
• Strong understanding of hardware-software integration, embedded systems communication and control, peripherals, and buses.
• Experience with embedded software development and commercial or enterprise-level software and firmware on Linux.
• Experience with Git and CMake for building and managing software projects.
• Hands-on experience with data gathering, analysis, and reporting.
• Proficiency with Python, C, C++, and MongoDB.

Nice to have

• Experience with Snowflake reporting software.
• Experience with CMIS, OpenBMC, validation and reliability/FIT testing.
• Familiarity with optical testing, measurement, and characterization methodologies.
• Experience developing firmware for photonic transceivers or similar systems.
