Senior Prototype Engineer

Location: Daily on-site work in Portland, Oregon, United States. Relocation assistance is available for moving to Portland.

Salary: $125,000–$165,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Design and manufacture prototypes and flight hardware using 3D printing, manual and CNC machining, welding, laser cutting, and other fabrication processes.
• Use CAD to design prototypes, fixtures, and assemblies.
• Support engineers with design for manufacturing and own design/build projects from concept through completion.
• Develop new production processes and expand shop capabilities.
• Maintain an orderly shop, support safety practices, and help colleagues use equipment and complete basic shop tasks.
• Order project supplies and maintain shop documentation and organizational systems using spreadsheets and word processors.

Requirements

• Ability to work on-site in Portland daily.
• 5+ years of shop-floor experience making prototypes through machining, welding, laser cutting, and 3D printing.
• Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering degree, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with varied manufacturing processes and materials, strong CAD skills, and five-axis CNC machining.
• Experience with industrial controls and fluid systems, plus strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours, occasionally lift 50 pounds or more, and work safely on ladders and elevated platforms.

• NX CAD experience.
• Hypermill experience.
