TL;DR
Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Fusion Energy): Owning end-to-end manufacturing processes, tooling, documentation, and production workflows for pulser module assembly with an accent on complex electromechanical hardware, production quality, and process scale-up. Focus on resolving non-conformances, leading root cause analysis, improving design for manufacturability, and transitioning assembly from low-rate initial production to higher-volume output.

Location: San Leandro, California, United States; daily shop-floor presence required

Salary: $138,100–$207,100 USD per year, plus equity and benefits

Company

hirify.global is an early-stage fusion energy company developing pulser-driven inertial fusion systems and components for clean power generation.

What you will do

  • Own end-to-end manufacturing processes for pulser module assembly, including work instructions, documentation, tooling, and acceptance.
  • Work directly with technicians on the production floor to resolve build issues and maintain production progress.
  • Partner with design engineering on manufacturing feedback, design-for-manufacturing improvements, and first-article builds.
  • Identify production non-conformances, lead root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Define tooling, fixturing, and equipment requirements for safe, efficient, repeatable assembly.
  • Track cycle time, yield, and first-pass rate while supporting production scale-up and schedule management.

Requirements

  • 3–7 years of manufacturing or process engineering experience in a hands-on production environment.
  • Experience leading or mentoring technicians on a production floor.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical assembly, work instructions, and production documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with complex electromechanical assembly and familiarity with high-voltage, pulsed-power, precision mechanical, or similarly demanding hardware.
  • Experience with quality management systems, non-conformance processes, and root cause methods such as 8D, 5-Why, and Fishbone.
  • Ability to interpret and create engineering drawings, schematics, and GD&T; familiarity with machining processes and equipment.

Nice to have

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, energy, or other high-complexity hardware industries.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement frameworks.
  • Experience with first-of-kind hardware or prototype-to-production transitions.
  • BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Culture & Benefits

  • Hands-on, high-ownership work in an early-stage environment where production processes are being defined.
  • Equity plan and industry-competitive salary.
  • 6% employer 401(k) matching.
  • Paid time off, including sick leave, vacation, and paid family leave.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
