Location: Devens, Massachusetts; on-site. The role supports manufacturing across multiple production sites, including CFS1 and Fusionova, and may require occasional travel or work on nights, weekends, or on-call schedules.

What you will do
- Lead manufacturing engineering teams, managers, technical leads, and engineers across multiple production sites.
- Define and execute manufacturing engineering strategy for production, quality, capacity, cost, and operational goals.
- Develop and standardize manufacturing processes, tooling, work instructions, automation strategies, and process flows.
- Own the transition of HTS magnet manufacturing from low-volume R&D builds to full-scale production.
- Develop capacity models, staffing plans, factory layouts, capital equipment roadmaps, KPIs, and operational metrics.
- Partner with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Facilities, Design Engineering, vendors, and manufacturing partners to improve readiness and execution.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience as a manufacturing engineer supporting complex electromechanical systems.
- 5+ years of experience leading manufacturing engineering organizations, including managing managers.
- Experience taking products from R&D into production and developing scalable, automated manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in process development, tooling, automation, work instructions, process mapping, capacity modeling, production planning, and manufacturing systems.
- Ability to work on-site, lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, and work safely around heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead, high voltage, and cryogenics.
Nice to have
- Experience with superconducting magnets, thermo-mechanical assemblies, machining, welding, or VPI.
- Experience with factory expansion, advanced manufacturing systems, or production system design.
- Experience applying Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience implementing MES, ERP-integrated manufacturing systems, or digital manufacturing tools.
- Masterβs degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related field.
