TL;DR
Test Engineering Manager (Space Systems): Leading hardware, environmental, and systems testing for autonomous spacecraft and related space systems with an accent on test execution, capacity planning, automation, and mission assurance. Focus on designing scalable test processes, managing qualification and acceptance campaigns, and solving complex testing challenges across thermal, vacuum, vibration, EMI/EMC, electrical, mechanical, and fluids environments.

Location: Fully onsite at the Centennial, Colorado office. The role requires authorization to work with U.S. Government-regulated space technology under ITAR.

Base salary: $135,000–$225,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

  • Lead and mentor test engineering teams across multiple sites.
  • Own component, subsystem, vehicle-level, electrical, environmental, qualification, acceptance, and automation testing.
  • Manage test schedules, capacity planning, resource allocation, and execution against program commitments.
  • Provide test inputs to integrated master schedules, engineering reviews, and test reviews.
  • Improve test processes, automation, efficiency, repeatability, and first-time test success.
  • Partner with design, engineering, and program management teams to ensure spacecraft and components are testable and meet mission assurance standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience testing space components, space systems, developmental systems, or other complex systems.
  • Experience with electrical, mechanical, fluids, and environmental testing, including thermal, vacuum, vibration, and EMI/EMC environments.
  • Expertise in test plans, test equipment design and implementation, test processes, and automation integration.
  • Experience configuring test architecture in Epsilon 3 or an equivalent manufacturing and test execution system.
  • Must be eligible to work with ITAR-controlled technology as a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or authorized person.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
  • Experience designing and implementing test ground support equipment and electrical ground support equipment.
  • Experience establishing spacecraft, component, environmental, vibration, thermal, vacuum, EMI/EMC, fluids, pressure, or launch test facilities.
  • Active DoD clearance or ability to obtain one.
