Head of Logistics & Inventory

Location: Onsite at the San Leandro, California Build Center or the New Mexico campus, with regular travel between both sites. Presence at both sites during production ramps and machine installation campaigns is essential.

Salary: $175,000–$220,000 USD per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Own inbound and outbound freight, carrier management, customs and compliance, cost control, and service-level performance across all sites.
• Run receiving, warehousing, shipping, storage strategy, and material handling for large, high-value precision hardware.
• Plan inter-site transfers between San Leandro and New Mexico, including packaging, rigging coordination, and freight for oversized and sensitive equipment.
• Own inventory planning, min/max and safety stock strategy, cycle counting, discrepancy root-cause analysis, and inventory record accuracy.
• Drive ERP/MES discipline, material availability, shortage escalation, clear-to-build processes, staging, and kitting for production and machine installation.
• Build and lead the multi-site logistics and inventory team while establishing KPIs, daily management, continuous improvement, safety, and housekeeping standards.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in logistics, warehousing, and inventory management for complex hardware, including 3+ years leading teams.
• Proven success establishing or scaling multi-site logistics and warehouse operations during a production ramp.
• Deep knowledge of cycle counting, inventory record accuracy, planning parameters, and shortage management.
• Hands-on ERP/MES experience, including implementations or major process rollouts.
• Experience moving large, high-value, or sensitive equipment using specialized packaging, rigging coordination, and freight.
• Ability to build processes, systems, and teams from scratch and collaborate closely with manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, and installation teams.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting field installation or construction logistics for capital equipment.
• Experience with a greenfield warehouse or site startup.
• APICS/CPIM, CLTD, or Lean/Six Sigma certification.
