Equipment Repair & Maintenance Technician (Semiconductor)

Location: Greensboro, North Carolina, United States. Permanent night shift, including weekends and holidays; 10–12-hour shifts with a compressed workweek possible.

Salary: $70,000–$90,000 per year, with shift differential and overtime opportunities.

What you will do

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and recover lithography and vacuum-based semiconductor processing equipment, including steppers, mask aligners, coat/develop tracks, vacuum chambers, and pumping systems.
• Maintain and troubleshoot high- and ultra-high-vacuum systems, including pumps, valves, gauges, mass flow systems, and gas delivery equipment.
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance such as component replacement, calibration, alignment, chamber cleaning, pump swaps, and rebuild coordination.
• Support continuous photonic-device production by responding to equipment faults, process deviations, vacuum leaks, and alarms.
• Assist with lithography process stability, critical-dimension uniformity, overlay accuracy, defectivity reduction, and resist processing.
• Log equipment performance and downtime, prepare shift handoffs, support root-cause analysis, and recommend reliability and spare-parts improvements.

Requirements

• Associate degree or technical certification in electronics, mechanical engineering technology, mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in semiconductor, photonics, or precision manufacturing.
• Hands-on troubleshooting experience with complex manufacturing equipment.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems, as well as vacuum systems and gas-handling fundamentals.
• Willingness to work a permanent night shift, including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to work independently during off-shift hours and follow strict contamination-control, cleanliness, safety, and EHS procedures.

Nice to have

• Experience with lithography equipment from ASML, Canon, Nikon, SUSS, or TEL.
• Experience supporting vacuum-based semiconductor tools such as deposition, etch, or implant equipment.
• Familiarity with HV/UHV systems, leak detection, and mechanical, turbo, or cryogenic pumps.
• Exposure to III-V or photonics manufacturing, including InP, GaAs, lasers, or optical components.
• Experience reading schematics, P&IDs, and vacuum system diagrams, or working with automation, robotics, PLCs, Excel, or JMP.
