Associate Engineer (Prototyping & Fabrication)

What you will do

• Develop advanced and non-standard prototyping and fabrication methods for unique applications.
• Perform hands-on fabrication using 3D printers, CNC mills, large-format routers, and lamination equipment.
• Lead fabrication components of critical applications development projects.
• Assist with testing, product characterization, and metrology activities.
• Collaborate with engineers and technical specialists on optical, thermal, and mechanical characterization projects.
• Apply basic data analysis and statistical methods to engineering work.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in mechanical engineering or a machinist curriculum with significant hands-on training.
• Experience with basic shop tools, CNC mills, and 3D printers.
• Experience using CAD and CAM software such as SolidWorks and producing professional engineering drawings.
• Strong problem-solving, organization, attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn beyond assigned work.

Nice to have

• 1–3 years of hands-on laboratory experience with fabrication and prototyping equipment.
• Experience with materials characterization and metrology equipment, including stress-strain testers and confocal microscopes.
