Staff Electrical Test Engineer, Test and Validation (Automotive)

Salary: $212,500–$250,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and location.

What you will do

• Plan and execute electrical and electronic module validation programs from prototype through production release.
• Translate electrical requirements and schematics into test strategies, verification matrices, and validation coverage plans.
• Design and build automated benchtop test setups, load boards, breakout fixtures, and measurement interfaces for PCBAs, modules, and complete systems.
• Perform electrical characterization, prototype debugging, failure analysis, and root-cause corrective action.
• Optimize automated test suites, data logging, statistical analysis, measurement accuracy, and test execution efficiency.
• Partner with hardware engineers, silicon vendors, external test labs, and system integration teams on DFT, DFM, validation criteria, risks, and test coverage.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience planning and executing EE module design verification and validation programs.
• 5+ years of experience characterizing complex electronic systems and debugging hardware.
• In-depth knowledge of analog, digital, and power electronics.
• Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, spectrum or vector network analyzers, power supplies, DAQs, and automated test instrumentation.
• Strong proficiency in Python, LabVIEW, or C/C++ for instrumentation control and automated data analysis.
• Experience with PCBA bring-up, schematic review, high-density rework and soldering, board-level failure analysis, environmental qualification, HALT, HASS, thermal cycling, and ESD/EMC compliance.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-speed signals or RF characterization methods.
• Background in automotive, consumer electronics, or aerospace industries.
