TL;DR
Director, Environmental Health & Safety (Aerospace): Building and scaling Wisk’s enterprise-wide EHS program across corporate, engineering, R&D, manufacturing, and flight-testing environments with an accent on regulatory compliance, workplace safety, and aviation-specific Safety Management Systems. Focus on leading multi-site EHS infrastructure, investigating complex incidents, mitigating advanced electrical and composite manufacturing hazards, and integrating EHS standards with Boeing and external regulators.

Location: Onsite in Mountain View, California, United States, with approximately 40% travel within the Bay Area to other facilities and flight-test locations.

Salary: $198,000–$248,000 per year, with the starting base salary dependent on location, experience, and business factors.

What you will do

  • Lead the strategic vision, design, and long-term deployment of Wisk’s global Environmental, Health, and Safety program.
  • Define and champion the company-wide safety strategy in partnership with Safety Management Systems, RAMS, Quality, Engineering, R&D, Manufacturing, Certification, and flight-testing teams.
  • Own regulatory compliance, workplace safety, and the EHS Management System across current and future facilities.
  • Build and manage a proactive, high-performing EHS organization, including annual planning, budgeting, capital allocation, and resource development.
  • Embed hazard mitigations into operational workflows and address risks involving advanced electrical systems, composite manufacturing, and chemical management.
  • Run executive compliance reviews, facility audits, incident investigations, and regulator and aerospace-partner engagements, including Boeing EHS audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or a related engineering or scientific discipline.
  • 10–15+ years of EHS experience, including at least 10 years in organizational leadership.
  • Experience in high-tech, mission-critical, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, or safety-critical hardware development environments.
  • Hands-on experience building and scaling enterprise-wide EHS programs across multi-site organizations.
  • Applied knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and local compliance standards, accident investigation, root-cause analysis, and mitigation reporting.
  • Experience leading EHS teams, reducing TRIR, managing regulatory inspections, developing emergency response programs, and influencing employees and executives.

Nice to have

  • CSP or CIH certification.
  • DOT hazardous materials and California Title 22, Division 4.5 certifications.
