Safety Engineer (EHS)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States; onsite work in office, laboratory, cleanroom, and industrial environments

Salary: $110,500–$152,000 per year

What you will do

• Implement, maintain, and continuously improve environmental, health, and safety management systems and site programs.
• Develop EHS policies, procedures, standards, performance metrics, and leadership reports.
• Manage regulatory compliance, environmental permitting, audits, inspections, recordkeeping, and agency interactions.
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective actions, and preventive actions.
• Provide technical guidance on chemical reviews, hazard communication, management of change, fire and building codes, hazardous energy, confined spaces, industrial vehicles, fall protection, and hazardous waste.
• Conduct site inspections, support design and construction reviews, deliver EHS training, and participate in emergency response.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental science, chemical engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of EHS experience in semiconductor, manufacturing, R&D, high-technology, or related industrial environments.
• Experience managing EHS compliance programs, regulatory requirements, incident investigations, root cause analyses, audits, and regulatory agency interactions.
• Knowledge of OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, hazardous waste regulations, fire codes, building codes, environmental permitting, risk assessment, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work with required PPE in cleanrooms, confined spaces, laboratories, industrial areas, and outdoor environments, including extended periods of standing and walking.
• Valid driver’s license, ability to travel up to 10%, and effective communication through Microsoft Teams required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Benchmark Gensuite modules for incident management, compliance tracking, and management of change.
• Experience mentoring team members and leading small to medium-sized projects.
