Founding Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, United States; on-site, with travel to customer locations roughly once a month for one to two days at a time, up to 25% in steady state.

What you will do

• Lead technical discovery with carrier IT, operations, and executive stakeholders.
• Understand customer workflows, TMS, ELD, dispatch software, and integration requirements.
• Design and configure proof-of-concept solutions that map AI agents to customer use cases.
• Run tailored demos and pilot programs with success metrics, ROI models, and troubleshooting support.
• Support technical sales through RFPs, security questionnaires, architecture discussions, proposals, and integration plans.
• Scope integrations and support deployment through data mapping, configuration, testing, go-live, and customer training.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of experience as a software engineer or full stack engineer.
• Experience building and shipping real products end to end.
• Strong foundation in full stack development, APIs, webhooks, and system architecture.
• Ability and willingness to work directly with customers, sales, product, and engineering teams.
• Willingness to travel to and work on-site at customer locations.
• High agency, comfort with ambiguity, and ability to operate in a fast-moving environment.

Nice to have

• Experience deploying AI/ML products or other complex technical systems in production.
• Background in logistics, trucking, fleet operations, or adjacent industries.
• Experience as a solutions engineer, implementation engineer, or forward deployed engineer.
• Experience with enterprise integrations, ETL pipelines, middleware platforms, Python, or SQL.
• Startup experience or experience working in high-autonomy environments.
