Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: New York, New York, United States. The role includes travel to collaborate with users and customers on-site.

Salary: $160,000–$220,000 per year in the US, excluding equity or variable pay.

What you will do

• Build and ship production-grade AI products end-to-end, including problem framing, data pipeline design, deployment, and live iteration.
• Work directly with customers and city leaders to understand constraints, lead technical scoping workshops, and develop scalable agentic solutions.
• Contribute to tools for data consolidation, predictive modelling, real-time decision-making, and LLM-powered experiences.
• Design APIs, manage data flows, and write reliable backend and frontend code for AI-driven features.
• Collaborate with product, data science, and operations teams to identify and prioritize high-impact AI opportunities.
• Help establish the technical culture, development practices, and delivery standards for AI Labs.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience building fullstack applications and owning features end-to-end.
• 3+ years of experience working with AI tools or building AI-powered products.
• Expertise with LLMs, predictive modelling, and data infrastructure for real-world AI systems.
• Strong backend engineering skills, including scalable API design, distributed systems, and maintainable code.
• Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, early-stage environments and take ownership.
• Strong communication skills, cross-functional collaboration, customer engagement, and willingness to travel for on-site collaboration.
