Infrastructure Mechanical Engineer (Fusion)

Location: Albuquerque, NM, United States; up to 50% travel to the San Leandro, CA facility during design and permitting.

Salary: $116,000–$174,000 USD per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop mechanical equipment requirements and guidelines for HVAC, fire protection, plumbing, and other building infrastructure systems.
• Assist with the design and development of pneumatic, fluid, and vacuum utility systems.
• Gather facility mechanical requirements from engineers, scientists, and technicians.
• Coordinate with the Infrastructure Design Team on permitting, construction, commissioning, and operations documentation.
• Develop commissioning, maintenance, and operations plans for building systems.
• Support quality installation, safe maintenance, operation, and future upgrades during and after construction.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 7 years of experience in design, construction, facility operations, and commissioning for industrial, manufacturing, or research facilities.
• Experience with HVAC, process piping, fire sprinkler, and plumbing systems.
• Hands-on experience commissioning and operating industrial, manufacturing, or research facilities.
• Strong multidisciplinary program management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Proactive, reliable, results-oriented approach with a cooperative and positive attitude.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer license.
• Startup experience.
• Experience in fusion, energy, aerospace, or chemical industries.
