Principal Power Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in San Carlos, California, United States. Applicants must be eligible under ITAR requirements to work with U.S. space technology.

Salary: $155,000–$245,000 annually

What you will do

• Design and optimize high-voltage, high-power DC/DC converters for solar and alternative power sources supporting GPU systems in terrestrial and orbital environments.
• Develop end-to-end power conversion architectures from power input through multi-stage distribution to GPU compute nodes.
• Design custom transformers and inductors, and develop robust power delivery networks for high-current GPU rails.
• Own PCB design and layout, including signal integrity, thermal management, and manufacturability.
• Simulate circuits and thermal behavior, validate prototypes through bench testing, and support field deployment.
• Establish power electronics standards and technical roadmaps while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with mechanical, thermal, and systems teams.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional experience designing and developing power electronics.
• Expertise in DC/DC converter topologies, control strategies, magnetic component design, power integrity, and PCB layout for power applications.
• Hands-on experience designing power supplies for GPUs or high-performance computing systems.
• Proficiency with SPICE, PSpice, LTspice, and thermal simulation tools.
• Experience with high-voltage (>48VDC) and high-power (>1kW) converters, from concept through volume production.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating renewable energy systems and solar power applications.
• Knowledge of multi-level, resonant, soft-switching, or GaN-based converter designs.
• Familiarity with GPU power delivery specifications and data center infrastructure.
• Publications or patents in power electronics and experience managing engineering teams.
