Reliability & Testing Lead (Robotics Hardware)

Location: On-site in Shenzhen, China; based in or willing to relocate to China

Builds data infrastructure for robotics and embodied AI, including data capture, labeling, and hardware-enabled workflows.

What you will do

• Own the reliability test regime for body-worn devices, including drop, thermal, cycling, vibration, ingress, and HALT/HASS testing.
• Establish and manage production test gates, including functional and calibration test stations at the contract manufacturer.
• Lead failure analysis for returned and failed units, including root-cause investigation and failure taxonomy development.
• Close the loop between field and factory failures and design or process fixes with EE/ME teams in Toronto and supplier quality partners.
• Define and report reliability metrics that track quality improvement during scale-up.

Requirements

• 5+ years of reliability or test engineering experience.
• Experience owning a reliability program for consumer or wearable hardware at volume.
• Hands-on experience designing drop, thermal, cycling, and HALT/HASS tests, as well as conducting failure analysis and root-cause investigations.
• Experience building or operating production test stations and gates with a contract manufacturer.
• Ability to turn failure data into a clear taxonomy and actionable signal.
• English working proficiency and ability to work across a China/North America split.

Nice to have

• Experience with body-worn, action-camera, or always-on devices.
• Background in a China hardware-execution organization such as DJI or Insta360, or at a wearable manufacturer.
• Experience establishing a failure-analysis function as a complete operating system.
• Mandarin proficiency.
